One student, one teacher, one hour. Here is what that actually looks like week to week.
We talk first
A free twenty-minute call. You tell me where the student is now and what you're hoping for. I tell you honestly whether I can help — sometimes I can't, and I'd rather say so.
A first lesson
A full hour. Mostly I'm listening: where the letters are solid, where they're guessed, whether they're reading or remembering. The student does most of the talking.
A fixed weekly hour
The same hour each week, once or twice. Anyone learning to read needs the rhythm more than they need flexibility — the reliable Tuesday matters.
You hear from me
A short note on what we covered and what to practise. No formal reports, no portal to log into.
When I teach
I teach from Malaysia (GMT+8). Europe and the UK shift by an hour with daylight saving; Malaysia and the Gulf don't. When you book, every time is shown in your local time, so there's nothing to work out.
| Where you are | Usual lesson times |
|---|---|
| Gulf | Weekday afternoons and evenings |
| Europe & the UK | Weekend mornings, weekday evenings |
| Malaysia & Singapore | Weekday evenings, weekends |
Common questions
How long is a lesson?
One hour. I don't teach shorter blocks — the first ten minutes are settling in and the last ten are where the work actually lands. That is as true of an adult after a long day as it is of a restless eight-year-old.
How much do lessons cost?
Fees depend on where you're based and how often we meet. I'll go through it on our introductory call — there's no obligation and no pressure to commit.
Is there an age I'm too old, or too young?
Children usually start between five and eight, but it depends far more on the person than the birthday. And no adult has ever been too late — a good number of my students came to this in their thirties, forties and beyond, and several were embarrassed to ask. Don't be.
Do I need to speak Arabic?
No. That's rather the point. I teach in English; the Qur'an stays in Arabic.
Do I need to be there?
If the student is a child, you're welcome in every lesson without asking. Many parents sit in at first and drift away once their child settles. Adult students learn alone unless they'd rather not.
What if we miss a week?
It happens — illness, holidays, exams. Tell me and we'll find another hour.
